Our target for every £1

These are the targets the trustees have set for the County Lottery. Prizes are fixed at £350 a week, so the actual split each week depends on how many tickets are sold. We publish the real figures every year.

  • Girls and young women (charitable purposes)50%
  • Prizes35%
  • Running costs (payment fees, age checks, registration)15%

What the law requires

Under the Gambling Act 2005, at least 20% of the proceeds of every small society lottery draw must go to the purposes of the charity, and no single prize can be worth more than £25,000. We report the proceeds, expenses and prizes of every draw to Perth & Kinross Council within three months.

What your money pays for

Leader training

Courses, first aid and safeguarding training for our 364 volunteer leaders.

Activities

County camps, adventure days and events that units could not run on their own.

Equipment

Tents, cooking kit and activity equipment shared between units.

Bursaries

Help with subscriptions, uniform and trip costs so that cost never stops a girl taking part.

Our charity

Girlguiding Tay and Ochils is a registered Scottish charity, number SC002886, regulated by OSCR. All proceeds of the County Lottery after prizes and expenses support its charitable purposes: the advancement of education for children and young people through Guiding in Perth and Kinross and Clackmannanshire.

Our annual accounts are published on the Scottish Charity Register (opens in a new tab). From the end of our first full lottery year we will publish a lottery summary showing total ticket sales, total prizes, total costs and the amount applied to our charitable work.
