Who we are

Girlguiding Tay and Ochils is the local Girlguiding County covering Perth and Kinross and Clackmannanshire. We were known as Girlguiding Perth & Kinross until 2020, and we have been a registered Scottish charity since 29 April 1957.

We are part of Girlguiding, the leading charity for girls and young women in the UK. Locally, we are the people who make sure that units have leaders, leaders have training, and girls have the chance to learn, explore and have fun.

Our aim

To help girls and young women develop emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually so that they can make a positive contribution to their community and the wider world, and to facilitate Guiding for girls and young women in the County.

Our County in numbers

  • 154Girlguiding units
  • 364Leaders trained
  • 1,485Girls and young women

What a Girlguiding County does

Girlguiding is organised in layers. Units are the local Rainbow, Brownie, Guide and Ranger groups that meet each week. Units are grouped into Districts and Divisions, and those are supported by a County. Our job as a County is to:

  • support and look after 154 units across our area;
  • recruit, train and support 364 volunteer leaders;
  • organise County events, camps and activities that individual units could not run alone;
  • make sure every unit follows Girlguiding’s safety and safeguarding policies;
  • help girls and families with costs through bursaries and grants.

Run entirely by volunteers

Nobody at Girlguiding Tay and Ochils is paid. Every leader, trustee and lottery helper gives their time freely. That keeps our costs low and means more of every pound reaches girls.
